What is your name and what do you do?

Hello! My name is Chantily Richardson. I currently work as a Technical Analyst in support of Air Force Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR).

What does your downtown routine or nightlife look like?

My downtown routine varies. You may catch me enjoying a mid-week cocktail at one of my favorite local bars - Toxic, Trolley, or Blind Bob’s. Friday nights are occasionally reserved for pizza with friends at Oregon Express, and over the weekend this Brunch Queen loves to indulge in brunch fare at Lily’s Bistro. Oh, and let me not forget picking up a sweet treat from Twist Cupcakery when I have a sugar craving. The sweet potato caramel cake is my favorite.

What are your favorite downtown retail shops?

My favorite downtown retail shops would be Heart Mercantile for picking up super sassy, fun gifts or “Dayton” inspired items for friends. BRIM for their amazing selection of hats/accessories to add a unique spin to an outfit, and Luna Gifts and Botanicals for beautiful plants to bring love and light into my home.

Where is your favorite place to go for dinner and drinks?

Currently, Wheat Penny is my favorite place for dinner and drinks. I either have a freshly hand-crafted cocktail or choose one of their featured wines. Meatballs from the appetizer selection will have your heart singing, and of course the pizza is the star (the crust on the pizza is simply delightful and my taste buds thank me) with various topping options to choose from. Dare I mention desert? I leave from Wheat Penny satisfied every time.

What's your favorite downtown event or place to celebrate special occasions?

My favorite downtown event is “Art in the City”. It is an absolute joy being out amongst other Daytonians enjoying pop-up art exhibits placed throughout downtown, live music, patio parties, etc. This event gives off such an amazing summer time vibe.

If you were to splurge on a gift, experience, or event downtown, what would it be?

If I am going to splurge downtown it would be on the experience/gift of Square One Salon and Day Spa (E 3rd St. location). I absolutely love going to Square One, and Jamee is my go-to gal when I visit the Spa. She is consistent and her customer service is top notch. Square One has the perfect ambiance for that every-so-often needed spa relaxation time.
